SICC's MAY DAY CHARITY EVENT 2017

During SICC's May Day Gala Dinner, some of my paintings' prints on canvas were presented to the major sponsors including Rolex (official partner), Super Galvanising and Lucky Dip Golfing Group, by Singapore's President Tony Tan.  Here are some photos of the event:

LANDSCAPE PAINTING

Golf Course Landscapes

Landscape painting was far from my mind as I dabbled in trying to see which style I would like the best.  Having been surrounded by scenic views while playing golf, I decided I would try my hand at golf landscapes.  The beautiful terrain, the colours of nature, the wild life, visually stunning holes, closely mown fairways, undulating greens, etc, have been truly inspiring.  There is that sense of familiarity too, being a member of The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) for more than 25 years.  And so in 2015, I started taking photographs of the courses.  Here is the very first one which I finished in late 2015.  This is available in prints only.

I enjoyed painting the first one so I decided to paint a few more last year.

FUN WITH ACRYLIC PAINTS & MEDIUMS

Wanting to learn different painting styles and techniques, I enrolled in another class teaching abstract art, using acrylic paints.  I also learned a lot by reading books, magazines, going to museums and galleries.

Liquid or Fluid Acrylic Art

About 3 years ago, I saw a video on liquid acrylic art and was fascinated by it. I tried and it was fun, innovative and results were unpredictable.  While pouring paints on canvas, marbleised effects are achieved.  With this technique, there is very little need to use brushes nor palette knives.  Rich, vibrant and smooth layers of colours result in beautiful abstract effects. It is also difficult to copy so each piece is unique.

To make these abstract paintings more interesting, I embellished with genuine Swarovski crystal elements and/or use other materials for variety, for texture and to make the art pieces unusual or unique. Below is a link to a short video of my abstract art paintings using the liquid art technique.
